Ketamine
Therapeutic Ketamine
Yes.
The party drug.
But different.
Ketamine is proving to be a useful tool in working with depression. It helps people let go of fears around dying. People are able to work through traumas that they haven’t been able to face in therapy.
Are we talking about the party drug?
Sort of. Ketamine is a sedative used in our sessions. This is compounded by a local pharmacy. It’s pure. It’s safe. We’re using it very differently than people use it on the street.
But why Ketamine?
It has been used for years to help folks with treatment resistant depression. And it works. Turns out, it’s also extremely helpful when facing tough issues like end of life or trauma. Many are using it as a tool for deeper self intimacy, understanding and rapid change. Used therapeutically, the dosage is way less than clinical levels used in anesthesiology. It’s legal. It’s extremely safe, with few potential side effects.
How is this different from psychedelics and other drugs people are using to help them work through things?
A lot of people are using MDMA and other psychedelics in order to face death, recover from a trauma or uncover deep insights about one’s path. Ketamine is another option in that realm. But safer. And legal. And the Ketamine journey itself is a lot shorter. It lasts under an hour.
You’re much less likely to have a difficult experience. For one thing, Ketamine itself has some feel good aspects to it. That’s part of why it’s so effective for depression. Your brain chemistry will benefit from the drugs uplifting qualities even without therapeutic guidance and integration. But when you add expert guidance and integration, the changes you can make are remarkable.
It’s fairly common to have a bad trip with mushrooms or LSD. And when that occurs, it’s going to last for hours. There is probably some value in making it through a hard LSD or mushroom trip. It’s a hard journey that will leave you with life changing lessons.
But the longer I facilitate changework, the more convinced I am that pain is not a requirement for healing.
Can anyone do it?
Nope. Not everyone is a good candidate. This is not for you if you have bipolar or a family history of schizophrenia. Your general health needs to be solid. It can elevate blood pressure, though the studies that have shown that are done at much higher doses.
How does it get in my system?
We use a troche which is a wax square that you’ll hold in your mouth while it melts. It is compounded by Dandurand pharmacy in Wichita.
How many sessions can I do?
No more than 8 in a 6 week period. Depending on your goals you may want to do several close together. Or come for a quarterly internal housecleaning.
Sum it up in one punchy sales pitch for me
It’s quick–a ketamine experience takes less than an hour. It’s cheap–under $50 per dose. It’s legal, safe, accessible, proven and science based. Plus it’s a new and fun way to access parts of yourself that you haven’t been able to. Maybe you’ve been scared to. Ketamine can make that 1000 times easier.
I’m A Big Fan
The Process
1. Initial meeting. You and I will have a free conversation where we both screen each other. You see if you trust me. I assess if I think you’re a good candidate.
2. Our first full session together will be an exploration of what you’re facing and how you want to use Ketamine for help.
3. Our second meeting will be the Ketamine experience. We’ll be together in your home or in my home office in the Riverside neighborhood. Plan on two hours. That includes mental preparation and some processing after the experience.
We’ll do a deep delve of your goals and hopes for your Ketamine journey.
Medical Intake
You’ll meet with my exclusive Ketamine provider. She’ll make sure you’re medically and psychologically sound and are a good candidate for Therapeutic Ketamine.
Cost: $250. This may be covered by insurance.
We only work with one compounding pharmacy. They’ll make a troche for you. That’s a wax square that delivers the medicine orally.
Your Journey
You’ll journey at my cheerful and eclectic private office, inside my Riverside home. The space is thoughtfully arranged with a high end stereo, plush blankets and eye coverings.
You’ll go through an intentional pre journey process, allowing you to access deeper parts of yourself for more clarity, insight and healing.
Some people talk through the experience, processing verbally with my guidance.
Some stay internal and quiet. Processing then happens afterwards.
Ketamine leaves your system quickly. You can’t drive afterwards but you’re sober. Just a little slow or relaxed.
Your brain is very neuroplasticity and susceptible to change in the 72 hours following. I’ll show you exactly how to make the most impact during those critical 72 hours.
We’ll have our final meeting as close to those 72 hours as we can schedule it.
This is an important meeting to aid in deeper integration and more impact.
